Alegria Lagoon is a gem nestled between vegetation and mountains, hidden behind the mystery of it's legend and the charm of its existence. Located in the crater of the Tecapa Volcano, Usulután, 3 kilometres from the city of "Alegría" is these days a tourist treasure that wants to be discovered. Alegria Lagoon was baptized as "La Esmeralda de América" (The Emerald of America) by Gabriela Mistral many years ago for the green color of its water. The water is considered medicinal by many people.
